• 8. Peer Review

  All research articles, and most other article types, published in our journals undergo peer review. This usually involves review by at least two independent, expert peer reviewers in the first round of peer review process.

  Peer review policy
  

  All submissions to the Journals are first reviewed for completeness and only then sent to be assessed by an Editor who will decide whether they are suitable for peer review. Where the Editor-in-Chief is on the author list or has any other competing interest regarding a specific manuscript, another member of the Editorial Board will be assigned to oversee peer review. The Handling Editors will consider the peer-reviewed reports when making a decision, but are not bound by the opinions or recommendations therein. A concern raised by a single peer reviewer or the Editor themselves may result in the manuscript being rejected. Authors receive peer review reports with the editorial decision on their manuscript.

• 13. Author Fees

  There is no submission fees for Journal of Ecology and Environment. Payment of Article Processing Charges (APC) is due when the Journal accepts the article for publication. For ESK and KSL members, APC is 600,000 KRW or 510 USD per manuscript and will be billed upon acceptance. Those who want to join ESK membership, there is one-time registration fee of 9 USD (10,000 KRW) and an annual fee of 41 USD (50,000 KRW). APC is 800,000 KRW (660 USD) without ESK membership. There are no additional charges for additional pages or color figures or extra data. We routinely waive charges for authors from low-income countries. For other countries, a discount (half amount of the regular APC) can be granted on a case-by-case basis to authors with insufficient funds. For those who have no funding sources for their articles can apply a discount for APC. Authors can request a waiver or discount during the submission process.
  We will provide a waiver if you are based in a country which is classified by the World Bank as a low-income or a lower-middle-income economy. Please request this waiver of discount during submission. See here for further information and a full list* of qualifying countries.
  We have a fast-track peer review system with extra payment. If you prefer to submit your manuscript through the fast-track, please contact the journal office(journal@e-jecoenv.org) before submission. The fast-track fee is 330 USD (400,000 KRW) should be pre-paid before manuscript submission. The first-round decision on the manuscript on fast-track will be given within 2 weeks from the submission date. When fast-track peer review process is not fast enough as our policy, the fast-track fee will be deducted from the final APC.

• 14. Other Revenue

  This journal was supported by the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies Grant funded by Korean Government (Ministry of Education). The Editorial Board ensures that business models or revenue streams do not influence the decision to accept manuscripts.

• 15. Advertising

  The advertisement price for one whole page is USD 1,000. Depends on number of pages and banner advertisements on the website, the price is negotiable.

• 16. Direct Marketing

  Journal propagation has been done through the journal website and distribution of an introduction pamphlet. Invitations to submit a manuscript are usually focused on presenters at conferences, seminars, or workshops if the topic is related to the journal’s aims and scope.
